Hugo Araujo is an Associate Director at Space Agency. Previously Hugo was founding partner and Director at Araujo Brieva architects, an architectural firm based in Madrid. He has more than 15 years’ post-graduate experience and received an education in architecture in Spain and Belgium. He graduated from the University of A Coruña, Spain and UCL Louvain La Neuve, Belgium. He received an MPhil degree in Urban Planning and Sustainability from the UPM Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain. Before working at Araujo Brieva Arquitectos he was employed as an Architect at Foster and Partners where worked on the Hearst Tower project in New York and More London Plot 1 office complex in London.
At Araujo Brieva Arquitectos, his work was successful in several national and international architectural and urban design competitions. These developed into built different projects of different scales; from private houses and residential buildings to industrial buildings and Masterplanning. The majority of projects developed and built by the office came through national or international competitions.
In parallel to his professional career, Hugo has been a regular guest critic and lecturer at various Spanish universities in graduate and postgraduate programs at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, 2009; University of Sevilla, University of A Coruña University of Alcala de Henares and CEU School of Architecture, Madrid
