Margaret Calvert Virtual Experience

Spaceagency's Wayfinding Prompted Network Rail's New Typeface, Design Museum Confirms

In 2020, the Design Museum staged Margaret Calvert: Woman at Work, celebrating one of Britain's most influential graphic designers — co-creator, with Jock Kinneir, of the UK's road signage system. The exhibition marked the launch of Rail Alphabet 2, a new typeface Calvert designed with Henrik Kubel for Network Rail's stations. As the Design Museum's own exhibition notes put it, the typeface was created "in response to a new wayfinding system at Network Rail stations designed by Spaceagency."

The display featured our wayfinding design and suite of pictograms for Network Rail's managed stations. You can read more about the exhibition on the Design Museum's website.
