Sarah lectures at the Architectural Association →

Sarah Manning is a founding director of Spaceagency, a design and research practice specialising in experience design. The practice is built on the belief that how people experience a space matters above all else.

Spaceagency focuses on the cognitive side of how people navigate their surroundings. Its work sits at the interface between people and the spaces they inhabit. That includes the information they encounter, the elements they interact with at a human scale, and the way both shape behaviour.

Many tech companies explore user experience through the screen. Spaceagency explores it through the built environment, treating design as the user interface for the places we live, work and move through. The practice is equally interested in how that interface will evolve, as the physical world becomes increasingly layered with the digital information now entering our homes, workplaces and cities.
