The Museum tells the story of Oman throughout the ages, including the renaissance period, and features a dedicated exhibition area on the future development of the country.
Our design drew inspiration from the angular architectural language and rocky formations of Oman's main mountain range.
Given the vast scale of the main exhibition and circulation spaces, the wayfinding was designed to form an intermediate layer — negotiating between the architectural scale and the tangible, human scale.
Its formal expression is based on analysing the building's distinct geometric language, using that analysis to inform the shape and size of the wayfinding elements, including the graphic language itself. The result is a wayfinding scheme that feels like an integral part of the architecture.
